Hang Lung Riverside 66 | Tianjin, China

Hang Lung Riverside 66 sits along Tianjin's most important pedestrian boulevard, Heping Road. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the building's striking form flips the script on the stereotypical shopping mall design. StudioSZ was hired to produce architectural and interior photography and video of this unique commercial retail building in northeast China.

  • StudioSZ set out to create a set of architectural and interior photographs that would showcase Hang Lung Riverside 66’s important location in downtown Tianjin and along the city’s major river.

  • A significant challenge we faced in photographing KPF’s Riverside 66 is simply the sheer size of the building. At 366 meters long, moving around a piece of architecture this long meant that we couldn’t be everywhere at once. Prioritizing the most important views along with ensuring we had ample time on site helped us overcome this challenge.

  • Several days on site allowed us to produce a set of images that told the full story of Riverside 66. Aerial drone photos contextualized the project in its urban surroundings while eye level exterior shots showcased bustling pedestrian activity in and around the building. Close-up detail architectural photos give the viewer a sense of the care and craftsmanship that went into building this one-of-a-kind mixed-use development
