Sanxingdui Museum | Guanghan, Sichuan, China

The Sanxingdui relic site is home to a civilization that dates back nearly five millenia. Located north of Chengdu, it has yielded thousands of cultural relics and occupies an important position globally in the arena of bronze culture. StudioSZ produced comprehensive architecture and interior photography for this important cultural building in China.

  • During the two day photoshoot, StudioSZ needed to balance showcasing Sanxingdui Museum’s unique architectural design while also capturing how gallery visitors use and enjoy this spectacular cultural building located in China’s Sichuan province.

  • Chengdu and Sichuan province are known for nearly year-round foggy weather. While we did receive some sun for the photoshoot, we also chose to photograph many of the most important exterior photos at dusk which also helped to showcase the transparency of Sanxingdui Museum’s transparent glass facade. A second challenge was the hoards of people visiting the galleries which made photographing the interior space quite a challenge.

  • StudioSZ came away from our Sanxingdui Museum photoshoot with a collection of architectural and interior photographs that highlight this important cultural building’s best attributes. From overall exterior hero shots, down to close-up detailed views of museum visitors enjoying the displays, we were able to showcase this iconic project from a variety of vantage points.
