Huamu Lot 10 | Shanghai, China

Huamu Lot 10 (also known as The Summit) is defined by three rectilinear office towers that are carefully arranged around a grand central plaza. Subtle cantilevers at uniform heights create a visually connected Sky Gallery, a dramatic and iconic gesture high above the surrounding neighborhood. StudioSZ was engaged by New York based architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox / KPF to photograph this newly opened mixed-use architecture project in Shanghai’s Pudong district.

  • StudioSZ's approach to capturing Huamu Lot 10 was to create a set of architectural photos that contextualized the project within its Shanghai surroundings while also telling a human story of how the project is experienced at ground level.

  • There were two main challenges for this initial photoshoot of KPF's Huamu Lot 10 project. First, there was some ongoing construction at the site and StudioSZ needed to cleverly work around these areas. Secondly, our client required many of the exterior architectural photos to be at blue hour, so we needed to make multiple trips to the site in order to accommodate that request.

  • Multiple trips to the site allowed StudioSZ to meet and exceed the KPF team's photoshoot requirements. We were able to come away with a beautiful set of photos that showecased the project in soft, warm winter light as well as more atmospheric blue hour shots. Our architectural imagery recently helped KPF receive first prize in Architizer's A+ Awards for Best Office Building - the first of many awards we hope!
