YiLong | Shanghai, China

YiLong is a premium yet casual Cantonese restaurant located in the heart of Shanghai’s former French Concession. StudioSZ was hired by the Melbourne based interior designer, BrandWorks, to produce interior photography of the two level space that was inspired by the glitz and glamour of the grand hotels of Hong Kong.

  • StudioSZ's approach to photographing the interior of Shanghai's YiLong restaurant was to create a set of images that showcase both the interior design and also the hospitality ambiance of the space.

  • The main challenge for this shoot was that the restaurant was already in soft opening mode, so we needed to shoot several partial days in order to avoid disrupting the restaurant's operations. Additionally, our client wanted several angles to be shot at dusk, so scheduling and time management was key here.

  • StudioSZ ended up spending three partial days at YiLong which allowed us to capture all the most important vantage points to tell the story of this beautiful new addition to Shanghai's culinary scene.
